As soon as I laid eyes on these incredible houndstooth shorts, I had to have them!

Manning Cartell has to be one of my favourite Australian labels, always feminine and always the right balance of on-trend pieces and classic wardrobe must-haves.

After NYE celebrations, lined up for tomorrow evening (you can check out my party outfit HERE), I'm off again on another road-trip of Australia, driving from Melbourne, all the way up North, to the Sunshine Coast.

Beaches, sunshine, and great adventures - bring it on!

Happy new year to all of my beautiful readers.

Neon Peach

“Neon Peach” refers both to the belt I wore today and to my next band.  It’s going to be an all-girl 80s cover band and it’s going to be epic.

I wore my neon peach belt (IZOD via Marshall’s) with a vintage floral dress (Anthony Richards via Goodwill), a navy cardigan (JC Penney), blue tights (DKNY via Nordstrom) and Born riding boots (“Sosie” via Nordstrom).  But the best part of this outfit?  Another Lynne pin:

This one is made of little clusters of awesomeness that happen to go fabulously with my neon peach belt.  I love it.

And that is all I have to say about that.  I have a four-day weekend coming up so I’ll wish everyone a fabulous, safe New Year now, and I’ll see you on the other side!

It's official - this exclusive Manning Cartell pencil dress is THE party dress for upcoming New Years Eve celebrations.

In-fact, this dress would be perfect for any celebration at all.

The cut, with bustier detailing is ultra-feminine and the beautiful digital floral print, thigh high split and apricot trim is too perfect for words.

Glamour to a tee.

Merry Christmas!

I wanted to take time this Christmas Eve to wish all of you, Most Dearest Reader Friends, a happy, safe and Merry Christmas.

As you’re out dashing through the snow to grandma’s house, please be careful.  You don’t want this to be you:

Not driving?  Riding your horse through the sagebrush instead?  You be careful too:

Note: I have it on good authority that the World Order of Squirrels (WOS) bribed the artist to put in a jackrabbit instead of the squirrel that actually caused this accident.  That’s right, the rabbit was framed!

Also, remember that you don’t have to go out looking for Santa:

If you’ve been good, he’ll show up bearing gifts:

(Unless, of course, he’s been kidnapped by the WOS and then we’re all screwed).

Speaking of gifts, if you receive one of these, you were NOT good:

Seriously, this wallet will eat your face while you’re asleep.  Or, it will open a portal to hell, as happened in the classic 1987 film, The Gate.  Either way, if you receive one of these you should be afraid.  Be very afraid.

Speaking of eating, if you’re planning on having lobster for Christmas dinner, keep an eye on it so that it’s not liberated by a mouse:

Little known fact, in 1872, the mice and lobsters of the world met in Bar Harbor, Maine and signed The Great Rodent-Crustacean Pact, wherein the mice agreed to rescue any lobsters on land and the lobsters agreed to rescue any mice at sea.  That’s why lobster is so expensive; restaurants have to pay for extra guards.  And that's also why you never hear the phrase “drowned mouse,” only “drowned rat,” because the lobsters don’t let the mice drown. True story.

But, that’s enough history for today; it’s Christmas!

I hope it’s lovely and filled with pink angels and baby animals (yes, even squirrels) for all of you!

New Glasses, Mustaches and Finger Guns

As I mentioned yesterday, I got new glasses:

When the folks at Firmoo asked if I’d like to try out their glasses, I was pretty excited; I’d been wearing the same pair for two years and wanted to try something new.  The Firmoo site was very easy to use and has an avatar you can try glasses on, or you can upload your own picture to see how the glasses will actually look on your face.

I used the avatar, but probably should have uploaded my own photo because I’m not sure I picked the best glasses for my face.  I wanted something a bit bigger than my old pair because they had a tendency to cover my eyes at times, but these might be too big.  They might, in fact, be so big that I’m a mustache and a leisure suit away from being a 70s lounge singer.

The glasses themselves are great.  I got style # SD2395, and they’re nice and lightweight, they don’t pinch or rub at the nose or above the ears (often a problem for me) and they came with both a soft and a hard case.  I’m just not convinced they’re great on me.  Luckily, I won a voucher for Firmoo from Heidi at Heidi-and-Seek, so I can try out another pair!

And you can try out a pair too!  Firmoo has a world-wide First Pair Free Program where anyone can try their first pair of Firmoo glasses for free; all you have to pay is the shipping.  You can get any pair of glasses as a prescription, including sunglasses, or you can order a non-prescription pair.  And, if for some reason you aren't satisfied with your glasses, you can get a refund or exchange them for something you like better.  But, I suspect you'll like them and I know you'll like Firmoo's customer service.

Happy Saturday, Everyone!

Day 3: Birthday Cake and Hobbit Thoughts

Day 3 of my Birthday Extravaganza-Fest was definitely more low-key than Days 1 and 2.  There were no sequins, no feathers, no champagne and only a minimum of fire.  But, there was cake (yay, cake!) and there were thoughts on hobbits (yay, hobbits!).

The low-key nature of Day 3 meant, of course, a low-key outfit:

Especially since I had to go to work – yes, they made me work during my Birthday Extravangaza-Palooza; can you believe that?!  I wore jeggings (Bandolino), a striped tunic (Old Navy) layered under a caramel sweater (Goodwill) and riding boots (Born Crown “Sosie” via Nordstrom).  I also wore my new glasses, from Firmoo, but I'll post more on that later.

After work, I had dinner with my family and I had cake.  This was my cake:

The candles are a joke; I'm not 33.

It was a homemade chocolate Bundt cake drizzled with white and milk chocolate and it was delicious.

And, after cake, my brother-in-law and my nephew took me to see The Hobbit.  Here are my thoughts:
  1. Aw, the Shire.  I still totally want to live there.
  2. Wow, someone spent a LOT of time styling those dwarves’ head suits.
  3. That lead dwarf is sort of sexy, you know, for a dwarf.
  4.  Orcs are gross.
  5.  Was Saruman reallyalways such an ass?
  6.  What’s with all the slapstick comedy?
  7.  Yes, but whywere the stone giants fighting?
  8.  The Gollum scenes were pretty great.
  9.  Orcs are gross.
  10.  Not bad, Peter Jackson, not bad.
What about you Reader Friends?  Have you seen The Hobbit yet?  Any thoughts?  None?  Well, then how about any thoughts/comments on cake?

Happy Friday, Everyone!

It’s My Party and I’ll Shine If I Want To

Well, it wasn’t actually a party, it was dinner, but it was my dinner and my dress was shiny:

I wore this outfit for Day 2 of my Birthday Extravaganza.  We were going to dinner at The Chart House, which is a lovely restaurant in the hills above Portland, and I figured why not wear sequins.  So I did:

Although I love my black, sequined dress (vintage via Goodwill), I wanted to inject a little color into my outfit as well, so I added blue tights (Hue via Marshalls) and a burgundy eelskin clutch (vintage via Goodwill).  I also added a few bracelets, the same Juicy Couture necklace (via Nordstrom) I wore the night before (I know, I know, worst blogger ever) and black Mary Jane pumps (Franco Sarto Leticiavia Nordstrom).

Dinner was fabulous.  The view was amazing and so were the food and the service.  Definitely an excellent Day 2.

Happy Thursday, All!
